“I would encourage you to keep in mind all those people around us who are trapped in a cycle of poverty. They too need to be given hope. The fight against poverty and hunger must be fought constantly and on many fronts, especially in its causes."

SERVICE: Taking Care of His Suffering Body

Good Shepherd Food Pantry

Christ recognizes our need for real food by giving himself to us in the Sacrament of the Eucharist as bread and wine. After being fed here first, St. Mary parishioners can in turn feed those who crave both his nourishment and practical care. Want to help? Download a list of needs HERE.

St. Mary opened the Good Shepherd pantry in February 2017. Neighbors in need* are welcome to share in the staples and fresh foods, stored among our new shelves, industrial refrigerator and freezer. The food pantry is open the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9:30AM-11:30AM.

* NEW!! Kindly bring a form of ID and proof of residence, such as a drivers license, and/or a utility bill (something that indicates your name and address - place of residence).

Read all about us in this article in the Maryland Independent HERE.

We are seeking St. Mary parish volunteers who are able to commit to a few hours, one day a month to helping with this important initiative. Food Pantry Reimbursement Form for volunteers can be downloaded HERE.

For more information on this ministry, contact Evelyn Lawrence at 301-643-6597 or Jenny Batts at 301-399-4013.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
