Funerals at St. Mary's
The death of a loved one is one of the most profound events in the life of a family. Whether that death is sudden or following a prolonged illness, our parish community is here to help you prepare well and to pray for you during your sorrow. For information on Funerals at St. Mary's, please review our guidelines here.
Burying the Dead
St. Mary is privileged to have sacred burial ground right outside the door of our Church. Burying the dead and respectfully caring for their resting places is a Corporal Work of Mercy.
For information about burial in our historic parish cemetery, the rectory office will help you coordinate with the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Praying for the Dead
Praying for the souls of the faithful departed is a Spiritual Work of Mercy. Kindly include the souls of those buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in your daily prayers and Mass intentions.
“Even now we are journeying towards the sabbath of eternity, the new Jerusalem, towards our common home in heaven. Jesus says: 'I make all things new' (Rev 21:5). Eternal life will be a shared experience of awe, in which each creature, resplendently transfigured, will take its rightful place and have something to give those poor men and women who will have been liberated once and for all.”
Pope Francis, Laudato Si', #243
